The Role

We are seeking a number of strong, motivational leaders to join us as Review Operations Managers who will be leading teams of Assistants and Specialists handling the peer review of scholarly journals in the fields of Biological Sciences and Sustainability, Data and Analytical Sciences, Health and Biomedicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences and Engineering. The successful candidates will be responsible for meeting performance targets, staff management and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor progress to team targets and define a strategic performance plan ensuring delivery of key objectives.
  • Optimize team processes, propose and define development requirements with product development teams in line with customer satisfaction and product quality goals.
  • Review, analyse and present data on journal and team performance.
  • Deliver effective feedback to inspire, mentor and guide specialists and assistants towards top performance and drive team development.
  • Revise or draft new peer review procedures and policies, in line with our philosophy and industry standards.
  • Represent the interests of the peer review team within the company, providing an effective interface with other departments and maintaining ongoing communication to foster an environment of continuous improvement, optimization and high-quality of the review processes.

About You

  • Previous experience in an operational/process driven role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid experience interpreting, analysing and presenting data.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with targets and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to digest large amounts of information and react effectively to urgent situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English including having a sound judgement and a diplomatic approach when liaising with stakeholders
  • Previous line management or mentoring experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience in academic/STM publishing and/or academic background would be an advantage.
